After a competitive bid to host the 2016 Olympics, Rio de Janeiro wins!!! This is the first time for South America to host the games and may have gave value in the decision.  Even US President Obama gave some words about his hometown city of Chicago, in attempt to help their bid, however they were eliminated in the first round.  Chicago residents were seen with signs, shirts, and other memorabilia in hopes of hosting the games, but later were very disappointed in such a quick rejection.  The second round was passed without Madrid as Rio de Janeiro held ground as the winner.
